Plum Duff Tearoom
Traditional Puddings & Cream Teas

Pudding, done properly

Spotted dick, sticky toffee, jam roly-poly and a custard jug that never runs dry. We're a small tearoom in Applecross Green keeping the old puddings on the menu, not just as a novelty.

A tearoom built around pudding

Most tearooms treat pudding as an afterthought tacked onto the end of a cream tea menu. We built ours the other way round: the savoury side exists to hold you over until the puddings arrive. Steamed sponges, suet puddings and old-fashioned tarts are made fresh most mornings, and we keep at least four on the go at any one time so there's always a choice — including one we'll happily reheat to order rather than serve lukewarm.

We opened in 2014 in a converted village shop that had stood empty for years, and we've tried to keep the room feeling like somewhere your gran might have taken you rather than a styled-up "vintage" café. Mismatched china, a slightly wonky floor, and puddings that taste like someone's actual grandmother made them.

From the recipe blog

Alongside the tearoom we write up a few of our recipes and the stories behind them — partly for customers who ask for the method, partly because some of these puddings deserve a proper record before they disappear from anywhere else. Have a read on the recipe blog.
